EXHAUST KITS

DBA’s mining truck exhaust kits are aftermarket alternatives to OEM systems. Our kits are used on mine sites worldwide and offer five noteworthy advantages.

1. Cost Savings

The first advantage is financial. Purchasing a DBA system typically involves a much smaller expenditure than buying an OEM equivalent, and DBA exhausts kits are almost always priced lower than comparable systems from other aftermarket providers.

2. Design Benefits

The second advantage is related to design. In some cases, our exhaust kits are similar to their OEM counterparts and there’s an element of interchangeability. In other scenarios, we introduce improvements. One of the changes we often make is to replace a smaller number of heavy components with a larger number of lighter parts. Mine site mechanics tend to prefer our approach because it makes initial installation much easier. It also makes it cheaper and simpler to replace a component that’s been damaged.

And finally, segmented exhaust kits can be mounted in such a way that they flex with the movement of the truck. This is a significant upgrade because exhaust pipes locked into a rigid and unyielding framework will often fail in the field. If you’d like to learn more about DBA’s design philosophy, you can check out our blog post “Creating A Complete Exhaust System: Do’s & Don’ts”.

3. Extended Life Span

Advantage number three: durability. Our exhaust kits are carefully crafted from high-quality aluminized steel tubing, and customers often comment favourably on their longevity.

4. Thermal Mitigation

A fourth advantage has to do with heat management. It’s important, when you’re putting together a mining truck exhaust kit, to ensure that the surface temperature of the various components remains below the flash point for operating fluids. Some manufacturers attempt to do this through the use of double-walled tubing; other companies utilize thermal blankets.

At DBA, we encase our exhaust parts in rigid composite shells. These proprietary heat-resistant shells are unique in the industry, and they represent a major step forward from a safety standpoint: they help prevent everything from operator injuries to truck fires. Additional information on our composite shells can be found in our blog post “DBA & Mining Haul Truck Safety”.

5. Noise Reduction

The fifth and final advantage is a straightforward lowering of the volume. While it’s impossible to entirely eliminate the roar produced by a vehicle as enormous as a modern mining truck, some exhaust kits are better than others when it comes to acoustic amelioration. DBA’s exhaust systems are engineered to break up sound waves and mix them in such a way that they cancel each other out. For those who are interested, we discuss this topic in greater detail in our blog post “DBA Mufflers & Noise Control In Mining Operations”.
